Portugal’s largest street art festival is calling for performers from around the world for the 2018 Mais Imaginarius Competition – Call for Applications

In 2018, Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival of Santa Maria da Feira, the largest of its kind in Portugal, will provide a platform for the creativity of emerging artists from all over the world through a competition of artistic creations for the public space: Mais Imaginarius.

Mais Imaginarius is a section of the Imaginarius festival that challenges national and international artists to present proposals that approach the public space in its most diverse impressions, testing formats and models for the construction of new artistic identities.

Artists of the following disciplines are invited to apply: theatre, dance, music, circus, performance, intervention, installation, digital art, new media, graffiti, and multidisciplinary.

Artists and companies applying for Mais Imaginarius 2018 must be available for performances on 24, 25 and 26 May 2018. Each selected performative project must be performed in public 5 to 6 times during the festival (the final number will be settled with the artist according to the format, duration and availability). The artist will be responsible for presenting the performance and for all the required scenic and artistic resources.

To apply, please visit the application page and complete the full application form, which includes a biographical note of the author (up to 500 characters), a project synopsis (up to 300 characters), two pictures and, preferably, a video of the project, and the project’s technical file.

The deadline for applications is 31 December 2017.

The results of the selection will be announced by February 10, 2018.
