Mohab Saber is a cultural manager with an extensive experience in the MENA region, Europe and the Mediterranean. Mohab is an initiator of projects, a planner and team leader with a long involvement in the nonprofit cultural and development sectors. Working in projects such as a street carnival, “safe city”, empowering women, and developing advocacy campaigns. He is currently the executive director in El Madina for Performing and Digital Arts in Alexandria; where one of its objectives is to create cultural policies. Which explains his current engagement in working on an advocacy campaign regarding cultural policies for artistic practices in public spaces and notes that ” A street theatre play cannot be treated like a political demonstration on the street”.
This video highlights the benefits and necessity for young cultural operators from south Mediterranean countries to reflect on their realities, voice their concerns, in order to provide them with the necessary tools for their personal and professional development.
This video is part of a series of 6 videos produced by Med Culture, an EU funded regional programme. It was filmed during Houna aShabab’s 3rd and last workshop, in Amman-Jordan, during 15-17 July, 2016 to particularly explore “Cultural Policies and the Value of Cultural Projects” and shed some light on the interaction between cultural operators and their overall cultural and political environments.
