“Flying Rug” Storytelling Festival

Flying Rug. The festival targets audiences from underprivileged and marginalized communities that are deprived of any artistic or cultural activities. The project aims to advocate for decentralization, and give support to these communities in a real and effective way. Accordingly, Egyptian, national and international artists will be gathered to perform storytelling in the streets or public spaces located in greater Cairo governorate.
“Flying Rug” Storytelling Festival is a nine-month project that is expected to start on March 2017 through the partnership and the cooperation of the Arab Digital Expression Foundation – ADEF, El-Takeiba Center for Artistic and Cultural Development and Sahara association .
The Arab Digital Expression Foundation – ADEF is an NGO based in Egypt. ADEF builds spaces, fosters environments for expression and learning, enhances skills and develops tools to empower teenagers and youth, groups or individuals, working on the ground to strengthen their practices and engagement with society. ADEF organizes a set of programme and projects revolving around the use of open-source information technology and the belief in self-expression and knowledge sharing. ADEF’s work is implemented through various programmes that advocate for different social and cultural values: ADEF Digital Expression Camps, Digital Expression Community Area –DECA and Youth Digital Empowerment.
