Marrakech 2-4 March, 2016

This is the 2nd workshop in the capacity development cycle dedicated for Houna aShabab group, aimed at exploring ways to build partnerships with a range of interlocutors, starting with members of one’s own team to going to a number of diverse stakeholders. That is no easy task and each time, specific strategies and tools have to be mobilised to make sure to reach the assigned objective(s). The present workshop tackled other themes as well, such as audience development and leadership in cultural work. While the first workshop of this cycle, which was held in Tunisia in September 2015, focused on following one’s career path and fundraising techniques.

More precisely, the agenda included the following sessions:

  • Team work and collaborations
  • Audience development
  • Leadership and cultural work/Project Development
  • Partnership with media

In addition, a number of meetings and visits were scheduled, starting with the Marrakech Biennale. A guided visit and a meeting with the organisers took place, which provided the participants with the opportunity to look into the workings of this international event. Also, a “talk” in the Biennale programme offered participants the chance to express themselves in public!

The Houna a Shabab capacity development programme aims at:

  • Identifying the various resources needed for cultural practitioners to develop their work;
  • Contributing to improve means and tools to answer their needs.
