22nd Edition of the Luis Valtueña international humanitarian photography competition – Call for applications

Doctors of the World – Médicos del Mundo (MdM-Spain) is now accepting applications for the 22nd edition of the Luis Valtueña International Humanitarian Photography Competition, which awards works related to humanitarian action, international cooperation, social exclusion, human rights violations, armed conflicts, natural disasters, refugee and immigrant populations or socially excluded groups.
The competition is open to adult amateur and professional photographers of any nationality.
One winner will receive a project grant of €6,000 to develop, jointly with MdM, a photography project composed of at least 50 photos and a 30-minute video shoot related to the work of MdM-Spain, either in Spain or in other countries where the organization is undertaking humanitarian action or international cooperation programs.
MdM-Spain will not demand an account of expenses. The grant will be given in three parts: 50% after the judges’ decision, 25% when the project starts and the remaining 25% when the project concludes.
In addition to the main prize, MdM will select other photographs to participate in a travelling exhibition. An awards ceremony will also be held during January or February 2018 at a time and place to be determined.
The deadline for applications is 10 November 2017.
The photo project must be completed before 15 December 2018.
In order to apply, each participant will be asked to send a completed application form and a maximum of ten photographs, which can be stand-alone pieces or part of a series. Only photos taken between January 2016 and October 2017, which have not been previously submitted, will be accepted.
Photographs must be sent in JPEG format via WeTransfer. The digital images must not bear any mark identifying the entrant. The images and the application form will be sent with the subject line: XXI PREMIO LUIS VALTUEÑA + ENTRANT’S NAME AND SURNAME to the following email: firstname.lastname@example.org
