Forecast Forum for pioneering ideas – Call for applications

Deadline: 1 March 2019

Pioneers from anywhere in the world working in various disciplines may submit their project ideas to the fourth edition of Forecast, an international forum for pioneering ideas.

Selected participants will have the chance to work with accomplished mentors toward bringing their projects to fruition, and to present them to the public. Forecast’s aim is to provide insight into creative production processes, and make space for the questions on the minds of the next generation of trailblazers.

Eighteen applicants will then be invited to Berlin to discuss their ideas and present them at the Radialsystem during the Forecast Forum, July 1–7, 2019. At the end of the Forecast Forum, each of the six mentors then selects one concept to accompany to its realization. The outcomes of these collaborations would then be presented at the Forecast Festival, taking place at the Radialsystem March 30–April 5, 2020.

The following mentors are participating in the fourth edition of Forecast: visual artist Candice Breitz (ZA), artist and internet activist Paolo Cirio (IT), musician Okkyung Lee (KR), cartoonist Anders Nilsen (US), radio reporter Joe Richman (US), and conceptual designer Jerszy Seymour (UK/CA).

Forecast is open to participants from all over the world, with no restrictions or eligibility requirements regarding disciplines or genres.

Travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed, depending on actual costs, and according to the German Travel Expenses Act/Bundesreisekostengesetz. If selected for the mentoring phase and the subsequent Forecast Festival in April 2020, you will also receive a fee and production budget for the realization of your project, amounting to a grant of €18,000.

To apply, please choose your mentor and fill in the online form here in English by sending information about you, your concept, your portfolio, your life and career. You can also send your application by post to:

Forecast
Tempelhofer Ufer 22
10963 Berlin

Each mentor will decide which applicants shall participate at the Forecast Forum, and later at the festival.

The submission deadline is 1 March 2019. Please note that post mails should be received by 1 March 2019 in Berlin (not its postmark date).

All applicants will receive notification of the decisions on or before 10 April 2019.
