K3 Residency for choreographers in Hamburg – call for applications

The deadline for applications is 14 August 2017 (11:59 pm)

This year, K3 Hamburg announces its residency programme (established in 2007) that will provide three choreographers with a chance to work on site for eight months. K3 – Zentrum für Choreographie – Tanzplan Hamburg at Kampnagel is a competence centre for expertise in the field of contemporary dance and choreography, artistic research, and dance outreach.

The residency begins in August and runs until end of March/beginning of April of the following year. This internationally renowned and unique programme is intended for artists currently at the beginning of their professional careers and who have already produced some choreographic work of their own.

The residency programme is one-of-a-kind because of its length of eight months and its close links to the other courses and professional training programs offered by K3. The residency includes mentoring as well as dramaturgical, technical, and production related support. Moreover, it links the projects proposed by the choreographers in residence closely to the various other ongoing programs of K3.

The goal of the residency is to develop and strengthen the connections between choreographic practice, research, artistic production, and qualification. Over the course of the residency the three choreographers will each develop a full-length piece that is presented towards the end of the residency, for three evenings on the TanzHochDrei stage. Choreographers-in-residence receive a monthly grant, a production budget, mentoring, dramaturgical support, and opportunities to acquire additional skills and qualifications.

To apply candidates must fill in the online application form in English and provide videos of their work (full length productions if possible).

Applicants are free to rework their application anytime during the application period. After sending the form, a confirmation email will follow with a PDF document attached. The PDF must be printed in two copies, signed and sent by post to the following address:
