Welcome in this June issue of our monthly newsletter, which brings you various opportunities in the
different cultural and artistic fields going from film, publishing, cultural management, illustration, photography, to research and mobility, etc.
We are also happy to share with you in this edition, the Guidelines for Promoting Culture in the Peripheries, which were developed based on discussions and recommendations of participants in the regional consultative thematic PeertoPeer workshop “Broadening the Base Work in the Peripheries”, held in September, 2015 in Tunis. We hope that these Guidelines will inspire and mobilise decisionmakers in government institutions across South Mediterranean countries towards a better understanding of the value of promoting culture in local development planning, particularly in regions/cities remote from capitals and other large/prominent cities.
We also take this opportunity to inform you that our Arabic website is finally online! Oh yes! and we are working on providing more and more content and updates in Arabic around the clock. All your suggestions and feedback (incl. critical ones) are most welcome, as we'd like to remind you that this website is here for you, and the more you participate in improving it with us, the more it makes sense and provides better services to the sector.
Finally, we were in Tunis on the 30th and 31st of May, where we organised a national conference to discuss the feasibility of the establishment of a film commission in Tunisia with the participation and collaboration of the Ministry of Culture and other line ministries, as well as Tunisian professionals of the audiovisual sector. This initiative was developed on the basis of the findings of a report issued in 2014 by the 3rd phase of the EU funded programme Euromed Audiovisual, and previous discussions held with the Ministry of Culture at the initiative of Med Culture over the past year.
We wish you a wonderful day and Happy Ramadan!
