IETM’s mapping on Contemporary Performing Arts in Lebanon

IETM’s mapping on Contemporary Performing Arts in Lebanon

IETM, international network for contemporary performing arts, launches its new mapping ‘Contemporary Performing Arts in Lebanon: an overview’, which provides an outline of the Lebanese contemporary performing arts field, with its main issues and key actors.

This IETM mapping, written by the French-Lebanese journalist Emmanuel Haddad, allows you to discover a vibrant and engaged artistic scene, committed to solidarity and open to international collaborations.

In the 4 years that passed between IETM’s Caravan to Beirut in 2012 and its Satellite meeting in October 2016, Lebanon received 1.6 million (more) refugees, and Beirut became one of the ‘twelve artistic cities of the future’. The Satellite meeting in 2016 focussed on freedom of expression, tackling crucial topics that affect the sector like artistic mobility, cultural policies, funding, gender equality and the decentralisation of culture.

Following its Satellite meeting, IETM publishes this mapping for all artists and cultural professionals interested to learn more about Lebanon and to broaden their network. The mapping guides you through the country's political situation, its cultural policies, and explores the state of the contemporary performing arts.

This publication is available for free download in both English and French and is part of the series of country mappings produced by IETM in connection with its Satellite and Plenary meetings.
